Plastic CNC Machining Singapore

CNC machining solutions for plastic components in small, medium, and large batch orders. Quality, lasting commercial plastic machining ideal for intricate parts that meet manufacturing tolerances and standards.

CNC Machining Services for Plastic Parts & Components

The Monster Builder provide CNC machining for plastic components that can be created to replicate and exceed manufacturing prototypes. With an average turn-around of 10 days for local Singapore and South East Asian businesses, The Monster Builder specialise in rapid manufacturing of plastic components ready for end-use.

CNC technology utilises milling, turning, and cutting to safely and effectively machine plastics. Where plastic parts can also be created using injection molding and 3D printing, we also use CNC machining where high precision, accuracy, and tight tolerance is required. CNC machining is commonly used for metal fabrication, but plastic polymers also make for an excellent machining material for automative, oil and gas, agriculture, food processing, healthcare, aerospace, and electrical/electrical appliance industries.

Plastic Materials Used in CNC Machining

Plastic variants can be used to suit different requirements. Not all polymers are equal – here’s a breakdown of the plastics we use in CNC machining projects.

Nylons (Polyamides)

We work with polyamide plastic variations of PA6, PA66, PA6 + GF, and Pa55 + GF. Nylons that are known for wear resistance, mechanical strength, and durability, when reinforced with glass fibres (GF), result is rigidity and dimensional stability.

Polyethylene (PE) Variants

Plastic CNC machining for polyethylene variants such as HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) and PE (Polyethylene). High flexibility and chemical resistance make PE variants ideal for containers, pipes, and packaging components.

Polyesters

We work with both PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) and PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate), which belong to the Polyesters family. CNC machining on these variants is used in automotive interiors, electrical parts and casing, and food/beverage packaging.

Fluoroplastics

We work with PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) and PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) for plastic CNC machining projects. PTFE is typically used in low-friction, non-stick applications, while PVDF is used in chemical processing and piping components due to its strength and UV resistance.

Acrylics

PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate or Acrylic) and PVC are common in applications requiring transparency, weather resistance, and durability. PMMA (Polyvinyl Chloride) is widely used for optical clarity in lenses and displays, while PVC is more rigid and used in construction (pipes, windows) and electrical insulation.

Other Engineering Plastics

The Monster Builder work with a range of high-performing engineering plastics such as PEI (Polyetherimide), PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide), PSU (Polysulfone), and PI (Polyimide) within our plastic CNC machining Singapore services.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the strongest plastic for CNC machining?

Of the plastics listed above, PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) is the strongest and generally the most suitable plastics. PEEK has a tensile strength of 14,000 to 16,000 psi (about 97-110 MPa), and can be reinforced with glass or carbon fibers. PEEK also has a high temperature resistance, making it easier to work with for CNC machining, and generally offers all-round good machinability which means that the results are extremely precise.

However, ‘strongest’ is not necessarily the only requirement for plastic part manufacturing. If you’re not sure what type of plastic is required for your prototype or component, we have a team of engineers who can provide guidance across the most suitable materials for application.

Is there a minimum order quantity for plastic CNC machining Singapore?

No – we work with small, medium, and large batch quantities. We’ve worked on one-off special purpose projects, and partner with large-scale manufacturing companies as their plastics CNC machining supplier. We work across Singapore and South East Asia and pride ourselves on our straight-forward, efficient, and effective project engagements.

Is CNC machining better than plastic part fabrication than 3D printing?

Not necessarily ‘better’, but it can provide more accurate and precise results. Our technology allows for minimal tolerance from prototypes – achieving a tolerance of +/-0.01mm for all plastic CNC projects.

The Monster Builder is a holistic machining, manufacturing, and fabrication facility – which means that we also provide 3D printing and plastic injection molding services among others. If we think that your project is better suited to a different method or technology, we’ll  provide you with the most appropriate option that suits your requirements, application, project, and budget. Similarly, if we believe that your project is better suited to metal CNC machining, we’ll guide you through the process.
